Anniversary

kayreToday is hubby and my 23rd wedding anniversary. We're spending it quietly but pleasantly. Had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. I have a dozen red roses to arrange, as soon as the cat gets off my lap. My gift to hubby was a replacement for his favorite Australian hat.
Ironically enough, I had a wedding music consultation today. I always enjoy the oh-my-gosh-this-is-really-happening look on the bride's face when I begin the wedding march; it was especially dramatic today since the wedding is only two weeks away. Talked to her uncle, the soloist, yesterday.. he's going to be a pleasure to work with. Voice major in college, but good sense of humor, doesn't take himself too seriously.
Hubby's father is a woodworker; makes anything from cheap little cutouts to very fine furniture. He's on a lawn ornament kick this year, so we came home with a stylized angel-playing-harp wind chime (3.5 feet tall) after our visit last weekend. Started painting her yesterday; finish clear protective coat today, string chimes (harp strings) tomorrow and 'plant' her in the garden. I'm using one of the new faux stone paints; looks neat, but in the future I'll paint a solid color first, and use the stone over top, to save $$ on the paint.
I've been looking for something to plant around the feet of our river birch tree for a while; when I bought the paint, I found miniature iris bulbs on sale, and bought 60. It'll make a lovely view in the spring, tiny purple iris against the pinkish birch bark.
