Hawks!

I heard a hawk cry, and watched him soar over the river for a few minutes. Then, just as I was ready to walk on, I heard a second hawk, and the two of them started circling, coming closer and closer. They would fly straight towards each other, shrieking, and veer off (yes, playing chicken!). They never actually struck each other.

The sound and sight, and effort to get a picture, were so exciting that when they finally went out of view I realized that my heart was pounding and I was breathing hard. Didn't get a really great picture, but I'm pleased to have gotten anything at all-- heck, I'm thrilled just to have been there!
