May. 8th, 2004 03:31 pmI never get tired of watching these guys.

As we approached an algae-covered pond, we saw and heard lots of turtles slide off of logs and submerge. We sat quietly, and after a while we saw a head pop through the algae... and another.. and another....

Some people call these bugs "Jesus bugs" because they can walk on water. Their feet don't break the surface tension of the water; they actually bend the surface of the water slightly, creating a shadow (where the bend has directed all the light away) with a bright rim where some of the bent sunbeams focus.

Just before they wilt, white trilliums turn a lovely delicate shade of pink.

And from home... wouldn't it be nice if we could all learn to relax so thoroughly?
