I was good!
Jun. 13th, 2004 09:00 pmThe concert preview today went really well! It's true, the other less-qualified organists were just as nervous as I-- and most of them didn't handle it as well. Of the not-music-professor types, only two of us ever played anything. Several people, in their own churches, declined to play, leaving the demos to the two profs! When we got to my venue (8th on the list) I popped into my organ shoes and did a very condensed version of my demo, since we were running late. I got compliments on the demo, and three people asked for my playlist-- the only time that happened.
Some of the other organs were really cool-- everything from a tiny little 3-rank home organ to a 45 (or more?) rank Casavant. The main frustration was having only 10 or 15 minutes to visit each organ. I enjoyed meeting a bunch of other organists, and suspect I'll be hearing from some of them again to help with future concerts (though probably not to play!).
I did my Purpose Driven Life study before I wrote this update-- aren't you proud of me?
Go Pistons! Go Ben!
