Summary: Spiritual growth doesn’t just happen; you have to choose to grow. It’s a collaborative effort between the person and the Holy Spirit.

My thoughts: Okay, this is a bit strange. Every chapter begins with two “theme” verses. This time, they are consecutive verses from Ephesians-- presented separately, from two different Bible versions. Kinda seems like he couldn’t find two different passages-- and/or didn’t like both verses in any one version?

According to Warren, in order to mature spiritually, you have to ‘stop thinking immature thoughts’ and then ‘start thinking maturely.’ Um. Right. This is supposed to be deep? Meaningful? Instructive? Helpful? Honestly, there aren’t any directions on HOW to do this.
