Summary: God has shaped us for ministry in five ways. 1) Spiritual gifts-- two problems are envying others’ gifts, or expecting them to have the same gifts. 2) Heart, or passion- if you are doing what God calls you to, you’ll be passionate about it. (3-5 tomorrow).

My thoughts: There are, of course, many different ways to understand spiritual gifts, and whole books about them. Some insist that they are separate abilities only granted after belief-- peeking ahead, I don’t think Warren falls into that category. Perhaps for once I agree with him, that the gifts are abilities that support the ministry one is called to, but may well be inborn talents rather than miraculous new abilities.
