I have an oven again!
Jul. 15th, 2004 06:48 pmTwo weeks ago, driving home from school, I told my husband how much I was looking forward to my own cooking. He said, "Well, about cooking... the oven is dead." We spent a couple of days trying things suggested in the owner's manual, then gave up and called the manufacturer's repair service.
They took down our information, gave us an appointment date-- 10 days later, last week. That day came, but the repairman didn't. Called again-- parts have to be ordered. New appointment, Monday.
Monday-- no parts, no repairman. Called again. At this point they somehow have two different work orders on us-- one indicating the Monday appointment, another showing one for Tuesday, but neither showing that parts have actually been ordered. Eventually they assure us that the parts really HAVE been ordered now, and set up the repair for today, between 8 and 5. (I've never dealt with any other company that won't specify either before or after noon!)
Parts arrived yesterday-- two boxes, one of them ripped open. Repairman finally arrived today at 4:55. He asked "How are you?" and got the whole story in answer. He checked out the parts, stepped out to make a phone call, came back in-- 30 minutes later, I had a repaired oven, a bill for less than they had quoted us just for parts, and a 5 year warranty on the electronics. At least they know how to apologize!
