I got out of my car, closed the door, and startled a bird out of the tree nearest me. I saw the flash of blue wings, and went into action!

I've started a birdwatching lifelist a couple of times, and never kept it up. It was too frustrating, because I never knew where to start, and I didn't want to give up all the birds I'd seen as a kid or teenager. Suddenly, a bird PHOTO lifelist seems like a fun idea. Photographing birds is a level of challenge slightly beyond just seeing and identifying them-- and I can keep my 'list' as a separate album in iPhoto.

Now I'll have some incentive to photograph the more common birds, and identify as many LBJs as I can!
