Aug. 23rd, 2004 11:04 pmYesterday the two oldest caterpillars started exploring. They'd climb up the side of the (upside down) aquarium, then come down and eat some more. By noon today they were both on the top.

The kidlet taped a penny to the aquarium for size comparison-- these are really BIG guys!

They spin a blob of sticky silk, then stick their back ends in it and dangle head down. Butterfly caterpillars don't wrap up in silk, though.. that's the difference between a chrysalis and a coccon.

Chrysalis by morning, probably... butterfly in 10 to 12 days.
