kayrePaying customers may not matter to the Parks Department--- but the first St. Joe cross country meet is this Saturday, at my park, so suddenly the trails are being patched up after 4 months. Men in chain saws were removing the fallen trees at last.
They also patched the washed out portion of trail... kinda. A culvert got blocked up back in April, and the flooded stream cut a new path-- right down the middle of the trail for about 50 feet. When the stream is small, it still runs in the old path, but after a rain the trail's a mess. The "patch" consisted of dumping silty dirt on top of the trail/creek bed and grading it. They didn't even remove the debris from the head of the culvert. So.... next time it rains, the whole mess is going to wash out again.
And there's rain predicted. Saturday morning. The runners may have to be amphibious.
(I'll pull most of the debris away from the culvert tomorrow-- didn't have shoes on, or work gloves with me, today. But it'll still wash out-- just maybe not as badly.)
