I'm a tutor/mentor in Peace Partners, a program for disadvantaged children in Benton Harbor, Michigan (the site of this year's Jimmy Carter Habitat for Humanity build-- one of our children is getting a Habitat house). This year we served 25 children, from kindergarten to 4th grade. Our parent organization, Harbor Harvest Urban Ministries, has programs for older kids, all the way through high school. We run on a shoestring, with whatever materials we can buy on a tiny budget or out of our own pockets.
This is what I have available to teach geography to 3rd and 4th graders. Granted, it makes for some interesting history lessons, but it's still a problem.
