Random Pics

First, one pic I missed. This time it was just because I didn't realize what I was seeing.
I looked out into the backyard yesterday and thought, "Oh dear, a dead bluejay." It was lying in the grass, with one wing extended oddly. Stared at it for a minute or so, trying to decide whether to go move it or just let the raccoons deal, and saw it turn its head. Still figured it was injured. Eventually noticed that its markings were a bit odd-- and just about the time I figured out it was a fledgling, it managed to hop up to the top of my storage shed and then into the trees. Hope I see it again before its adult markings come in!
Meanwhile, here are a few random pics from the last few days....
I think the way the seed pod, just beginning to form, joins the leaf at the middle of the underside, is nifty. (Okay, we already knew I'm weird, right?)
Likewise, I thought this half-open flower looked cool. No clue what it is, except that it's something in the daisy family.
Ever had an itch you just couldn't quite reach? (I stopped by to see if there are cygnets. I suspect there are either eggs or babies, as Papa swam over to threaten me the moment he heard my car. Couldn't see them, though.)
