Misty day at the beach
Jun. 3rd, 2005 08:46 pmAfter my cooking frenzy, I knew I needed to walk, but it was one of those horrible hot and muggy gray days. A little voice in my head said, "The Lake, you dummy!" I knew it was right-- it would be cooler at lakeside, and it would be wonderful to just listen to the waves. But I didn't want people around, and I didn't want to have to climb over the dunes to get to the lake, so I headed to Warren Dunes, where I could park 100 yards from the water, and head straight for that perfect walking path just above the highest point of the waves. It was gray and misty, but cooler, and only rained for maybe 5 minutes during my walk (3.6 miles!)
As I walked north, a butterfly flitted all around me for a while, but never settled where I could get pics, and eventually went away towards the dunes. Much to my amazement, the same one or its cousin turned up at the same spot when I walked south, and this time it did settle down. It's an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, I believe.
