After seeing very few herons all summer, it's been fun to see several greenbacked herons lately. (They do have long necks, but they keep them compressed much of the time.)



Tonight as we drove into the park, I saw a flash of blue wings in the pond, so we started our walk there, watching this lovely blue heron-- the first in weeks! Then as we continued down the river, we saw two more. I hope they stay!



Not a spectacular sunset, but we enjoyed the colors reflecting on the river.
