Dressage equitation is what we call a "flat class", judging how the rider handles the horse at various gaits.

Here are Whisper and the kidlet, trotting around a corner, beautifully balanced.

That sweetly arched neck has taken years of training.

Photo op! Coincidentally, the kidlet lined Whisper up on the end near me. First place was announced, and then the announcers talked to the judge for a while, and she walked down the lineup checking and verifying numbers. I saw her check the kid's number, so I was pretty sure she had placed....

... but was still bowled over when the long silence was broken with "2nd place to number S9308, Laura S---, riding Whisper!"
