kayre | Lifebird! and yet another heron

I'm just loving herons glowing in the evening light.

When I first glimpsed this bird, my brain said "that's really ODD" and I clicked fast-- nice to have the reflexes back! Looked at the pics on the camera, and thought, "Oh, it's just a yellowlegs sandpiper." Got home, looked at the pic on the computer, and..."Nope. Wrong beak, wrong head, wrong posture." Went digging, and confirmed my suspicions with my sister--- it's an immature black crowned night heron! Now, if only mom or dad will come pose for me.
