Sadly, it's something of an LDR.
I've found a wonderful place to walk-- but it's about a half hour drive from our rental house, not reasonable more than once a week. It's the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area. What a name, huh? It's mostly a waterfowl refuge; I'm told next week it'll be covered with snow geese and birdwatchers. I walked 3/4 mile down two different trails; absolutely gorgeous. Next week I'll go back and see if the trails connect somehow. Meanwhile, here are pics:

With views like this, who can resist?

So nice to see herons here.

I started watching this northern harrier while it was quite a distance away. I was amazed when it began to work closer and closer to me, finally flying right over my head, quite low. I ducked after I took the last pic!
