Woodpecker target practice?



First redwinged blackbird I've seen here... and such gorgeous colors against the blue sky.



Figured I'd better photograph this before it falls down! tiwonge, I was standing pretty much due east of it.



I found another place to walk today. It's almost on the way to Vergennes, where I do most of my shopping, and it's absolutely lovely. The trails wind through old farm fields, an old orchard and mixed forest; I saw and heard more birds than anywhere else I've visited. And at the very top of the trail-- this charming little waterfall and pond. It actually inspired me to sit and meditate for a while, the first time that has happened in Vermont.



After a while, I realized I wasn't meditating alone; at least 5 frogs had joined me.
