kayreThe real highlight of the day was a sound, not an image-- the sound of two great horned owls "talking" to each other in the woods. But there are pics too.....
When I arrived here, I was disappointed to learn that most of the state parks closed in early to mid October. However, it turns out that "closed" means "walk on in, but don't block the gate when you park, and remember the toilets are locked."
I visited Button Bay State Park today. It was new to me, other than a brief drive-through in July, so I was pleased to see a map tacked up on the park bulletin board. I snapped a picture of it to consult while I walked. You can just barely see my reflection in the picture.
Ship Island.
Couldn't make out what these birds were, because of distance and light angle, but they looked so peaceful swimming across the bay.
Very strange fungus-- lacey, almost fluffy.
