Blue holidays

There are losses every December, but this year quite a few of my friends have lost loved ones, or are otherwise having especially difficult life issues right now. Tonight I helped lead a Blue Christmas service, for those who need to deal with the fact that they aren't happy during this season; I lit candles for three friends... and came home to learn that one of them has suffered a second loss in a short time.
What I want to say to everyone is.... it's okay to be you, to be where you are right now. It's okay to be sad, angry, or scared. It's okay to be numb, even to choose to be numb if that's what you need to get through.
It's okay to be sad one minute, happy the next, and then sad again, or angry.
It's okay to be sad for your friends, and happy with your own life. Or to be frustrated or sad about your own life, even though your challenges don't seem "as bad."
Don't worry about how you "should" feel. Just be where you are. It's okay. Be gentle with yourself. Try to be gentle with those around you.
And remember you are loved.
