Project 365
Jan. 17th, 2007 10:11 pmA day at the library.. plus bonus kittypic.
Our local library is the Bixby Memorial Free Library, established in 1912. The collection is small, but the building is amazing. It's not a Carnegie library; it was funded by a local donor.

We have elegant stairs and marble columns....

... a working fireplace with a portrait of Mr. Bixby....

.. and a rotunda. (And also both enclosed and open balconies within earshot, if not view, of the waterfalls-- I'm looking forward to enjoying those next spring!)

I found this map hanging in a hall on the upper floor. See the road along the east side of the river, at the bottom of the map? See where it splits into a Y? The house we're buying is just south of the Y, on the river side. There's a building right on the river, in the map-- it was either in our back yard or immediately south.

Bonus kittypic from last night. If you know cats, you know this isn't exactly the sweet and tender moment it first appears, but is a subtle dominance battle (which Felix won).
