Church went well. To give an idea of what I stepped into-- only a few choir members knew what they were singing today, and no one at all knew what is scheduled for next week. So I had a 45 minute rehearsal time, and only one anthem to fill it! We read through most of the hymns for the day, worked on today's anthem quite thoroughly, and then I simply picked a couple of pieces they don't know from our hymnal supplement and taught those.

Pastor had told me that choir starts "nominally at 8:30 but really around 8:45" and then asked me to meet her at 8:15 to go over the service. I nearly emailed back that 8:30 would be fine, we'd only need a few minutes-- and then a little voice in my head said "she wants to talk." So I was there at 8:15-- and sure enough, 2 minutes to look at the bulletin, and 20 minutes talking. I'm definitely getting cues that she really wants me around, even if it means I'm active in more than one church, so I'm going to go to the Bible study group that starts in a couple of weeks.

When I began my prelude, I could hear a bit of reaction in the sanctuary. Leading hymns again was FUN! Afterwards the general response was "we knew you said you played, but WOW!" And of course we shared about kidlet's graduation, visit and job during prayer joys and concerns, so we got a lot of attention. Definitely a fun and affirming day.

The rest of the day was relaxing. After lunch the kidlet and I took a long walk out at Button Bay, and then a nap. Hubby and kidlet made pizza and we watched Shrek 2 together. Kidlet gave us some inspiration for organizing the garage, and we did quite a lot of work on that.
