Road runner duck! Look at the wake it's kicking up! (My Sister the Naturalist says it's a female wood duck, molting, and probably incapable of flying away to safety.)

I saw about 10 herons today, and an egret-- sadly no pics of the latter.

For most of my walk, one bird or another was yelling at me-- the wood duck, the heron, the swallows... this redwinged blackbird was particuarly unhappy that I walked through his territory TWICE.
