Discovery for the day-- turtle eggs! In a pile of dirt on our driveway! More than 30 in all! (Click through for a pic of more of them if you like.) We salvaged about 20 and will attempt to let them hatch; unfortunately I'm afraid we disturbed them rather badly.
Bright shiny shelf fungus.
I missed a chance for a treat-- I only learned later that these mushrooms are chanterelles.
This frog and others like it gave me a surprise-- they squawked quite loudly when I startled them. I've heard frogs squeak, but this was LOUD>
