My new LJfriend [livejournal.com profile] science_chic asked about some of my interests. (If you want me to ask about some of yours, say so in responses.)

Society for Amateur Scientists-- an organization that supports scientific experimentation and data-gathering by those of us who do it for love. Mostly expressed in my live by my participation in Project FeederWatch; the hubby gathers data on solar intensity.

Andrew Greeley-- a favorite author, though there are times when I wish he had stopped writing 5 years ago or so. Love his early Father Blackie novels, especially.

Buxtehude, Pachelbel-- two of my favorite composers of organ music.

Eventing-- one of several horse-related interests. I don't ride much, and certainly don't do eventing (the three-day event consisting of dressage, cross country and show jumping) but my daughter does two of the events and may well be doing 3-day events next summer.

frugal living-- not sure how well I live this out, but this reflects my attempts to question my "needs" and settle for less than I can afford, when less is enough.

geocaching-- A modern game of locating hidden items by using a GPS receiver. Tremendously fun, and helped me get walking again after a broken ankle.

environment-- "Green" stuff in general; reducing consumption, recycling, caring for and appreciating natural ecosystems, etc.
